Location - Stay with a Restaurant with private room and good acoustics.
            Consideration made by Group One to locate a permanent meeting
            place in St. Helens
Issues and Topics - Everyone agreed we should add topics of
            interest to each meeting to make meetings more compelling and
            build interest
Office for '08 election - All but one voted yes on having an
office and were willing to staff.

Report on Democratic Summit - Jolene
It was a great weekend, with Jolene being the only rep from Columbia County.  It was an opportunity to all of the State and Fed candidates minus the presidential race) State Platform Convention - April 11-13 in Eugene. In December, copies of the preliminary draft will be
sent out and each county's central committee can write suggestions/changes for consideration. Feedback will be accepted in Jan & Feb.  Columbia County did not participate in 2006.  Let's try thistime around.

The National Convention will be held this summer in Denver. 
Jolene is running to be one of Oregon's 60 delegates. 

To win, she will have to have her supporters vote in person in Beaverton on June 7.

The next CD1 meeting will be held at the Warren Country Inn
on December 1st.


Strategic Plan - 1st Draft -
Jolene passed out a suggested outline for our Strategic Plan.
Attendees divided into 3 tables, each taking a portion of the
Plan for development--
1. Increase active membership in County Party
2. Elect Democrats at state, county, and local level.
3. Raise the visibility of the County Party to support and
enhance all other goals.
4. Raise enough money to meet our budget goals.

Discussion to continue within each group and reported next meeting which will be held at the Warren County Inn (depending on availability). Claudia Franklin has agreed to take on this
responsibility of reserving the restaurant. Note the date may need to change. 

Recruiting Democrats: Representative Brad Witt remarked on the need to get more Democrats elected to the House.  Specifically, he asked for our help in finding good men and women to run in the following districts:
                        Albany

                        The Dalles & Madras area,

                        McMinneville

                        the district south of Eugene to Roseburg.

If you have friends and family or other contacts in these areas that should be considered,

please let Brad know.
