Old Business

The by-laws have been on the website.  There have been no comments received.

The state fair and the Scappoose festival  and the Columbia County fair were all covered by diligent, hard working Democrats volunteering their time

GOTV - The strategy committee has printed precinct lists and taken them door-to-door in St. Helens and Scappoose (506 people visited).  More dates and cities are planned and more bodies to go visiting are needed.  Two phone bank sessions are planned.

Buttonmaker project is looking for a person to take this project on and "lead the charge" according to our DCC chair.

There was a discussion on precinct membership.  No action was taken.

Candidate updates:
Betsy Johnson and Joan Dukes gave updates on their state campaigns.  Rita Bernhard stated she feels she has wonderful support, but would appreciate more funds.  She stated she would be part of a call in show on KOHI with her two opponents on 10/25/02.

Jolene shared with us that Bill Clinton would be in Eugene campaigning for Democrats on 10/31/02.  Nancy Federici was volunteered to write a letter to the editor supporting Democratic candidates.  Randall Edwards stated that Democrats need to be in office.

New Business:

There will be a salon on 10/26 at Ehrenkranz's to discuss measures and candidates

Jolene is requesting fund raising ideas (Please think about this for the 12/14/02 meeting)

There will be an election party 11/5/02 at Nancy's (It turned out to be at the Kozy. Ed. comment).

There is a need for a candidates' in-service for local boards.  We need to train good people to run for office and help them get elected.

There needs to be support for the initiative on the March ballot.

Next meeting
The next meeting will be at the Warren Country Inn on December 14, 2002 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  We will have an auction to raise money and we will elect officers.

                                                                                         Respectfully submitted,

                                                                                          Karen Fox Ladd
