The Democratic Majority has been working overtime to get bills passed that have been blocked in previous sessions. We still need a “super majority” to do the work for the people of our county and our state.
County Reports – Joe and Rita
The crisis passed for this year when Bush signed the Supplemental Funding Bill; but, we still have to find a sustainable solution for subsequent years.
Movie Night - Movies will be discontinued for the summer.
Recruitment–Julane
A group called “Drinking Liberally” http://drinkingliberally.org/ gathers progressives together at a local establishment for a meet and talk social hour. One will be held Wed. June 13th , 7pm at the Red Line in St. Helens and will continue to meet the second Wednesday of each month. Steve Novic, will be the guest this month—He is challenging Sen.Gordon Smith in the 2008 elections.
CCDCC does not sponsor this group but will support it by members attending on their own. The organization has chapters throughout the country including Portland and Astoria. It is hoped that this new St. Helens group will provide more interest and volunteers for Columbia County Dems.
Adopt-a-Highway – Julane
Our portion of responsibility has changed to the strip from Berg Road & Hwy 30 south to Fullerton Road. A June 23rd, 9am meet-up at Warren school, will be the initial clean-up. Anyone who has not yet seen the “training film” please contact Julane and arrangements will be made.
DPO Training in Washington Country – will be held June 2 – We have several members signed up to attend. All are welcome but must sign up by May 30th on the DPO website.

Web Site update. We will stay with our own website for now.
To the Resolution on LNG- Pat Cunningham
The resolution as posted on the website was read. Pete Hackett from Northern Star requested the opportunity to speak on behalf of the Bradwood site. After his presentation, a period of Q & A was held along with a vigorous debate.
Due to the interest, as well as the length of the discussion, Pat C. made a motion to table the resolution indefinitely with the understanding that the dialog would continue. The motion was passed by voice vote.
Next Meeting June 26 will be in St. Helens,
