 Old Business:

CD1 - Jolene reported the CD1 quarterly/Christmas auction was held at Kozy Korner on Dec 3rd.  The auction took in $256.50, so CCDCC was sent a check for $128.25.

Working with CD1 and the DPO, we are working on a 2 day workshop, lead by two professors from Washington State.  The workshop will teach us the techniques necessary to deliver clear, concise, persistent messages to the media regarding our progressive values.   If you would like to sign up please contact Jolene.  Tentative dates are Feb 4 and Feb 25 from 9 to 3, at a cost of $65.

State Platform Committee – Jolene reported the state Democrat’s annual Platform Committee will be held some time in June, pending the site selection.  Columbia County D’s can have 11 delegates at that convention.  We should try to fill that slate to ensure our voices are included in the final Platform.

Rural Caucus –Jolene reported the 1st Rural Caucus retreat was held south of Salem.  Paula Becks and Jolene attended.  The purpose of the Rural Caucus is to define those issues that will bring rural Oregon back into the Democratic fold.   If anyone would like to join this caucus please send Jolene an email to sign you up.

State Quarterly – No one from Columbia County attended the state meeting

Message Committee – Jolene reported the message committee met at her house in mid Nov.  They began to work the messages we see as critical to Columbia County.  They agree to meet again in Jan at Paula Beck’s house but no one stepped up to take the lead so it is not clear whether this committee will continue.

Bylaw update: Jolene read the new language added to the bylaws regarding our meetings moving to Monthly, and using email as our primary means of communication.  The bylaws are posted on our Columbia County Dem website at:

http://www.columbiademocrats.org/

 New Business:

Karen Greeley from St Helens 2

Roger Wuollet from Apiary

Dan Gardner will be our guest speaker at the next Dem monthly

The dates for the next quarter are:

Jan 31 in Rainier

Feb 28 in Scappoose

March 28 in Vernonia

 Meeting Adjourn

Minutes submitted by Jolene Jonas in Donna’s absence.

Due to the low attendance, we decided to have a mini-auction for the perishables only.  The remainder of the Christmas auction was postponed to Jan to improve turnout.
