Reorganization Meeting minutes of 12/14/02

 Members present:  Joe and Debi Corsiglia, Rod Bennion, Dorothy Robertson, Bill and Claudia Eagle, Susan Easley, Randy Peterson, Craig Frasier, Dave Freytag, Nancy Federici, Gary Heide, Chip and Nancy Bubl, Geneva Shadley, Linda Waters, Diana and Darryl Boom, Paula Becks, Rita Bernhard, John DeFrance, Pat Zimmerman, Paul Dinu, Carole Smith, Rep. Betsy Johnson, Jolene Jonas and Karen Ladd.

Guests present:  Lori Peterson, Sue Ziglinski

 The meeting was called to order at 11:15 a.m.  Each person at the meeting introduced themselves.  The minutes were approved as presented.  The treasurer stated that the current balance is $666.37.  There are advertising receipts yet to be paid from the Get the Vote Out campaign.  It was moved by Paul Dinu and seconded by Ted Olson  to accept the report and pay these additional bills.  Motion passed unanimously.

A slate of officers was presented for vote by Nancy Federici.  These officers will serve for the next two years.  The officer’s slate presented was: Jolene Jonas, chair; Gary Heide, vice chair; Karen Ladd, secretary; and Diana Boom, treasurer.  Nancy  Federici moved and Paul Dinu seconded to accept the slate as presented.  The motion was approved with the exception of one no vote.

State delegates will be Jolene and Gary as defined in by-law.  Craig Frasier volunteered to be the alternate.  District  delegates  will  Nancy Federici and Bill Eagle with Claudia Eagle and Jolene as back ups.

Two  people present were voted on for membership -  Lori Peterson, St. Helens 5; and Sue Ziglinski, Columbia City.  Donna and John Nyberg of Yankton were also voted on for membership.  They had sent a letter of intent to Jolene. Craig Frasier moved and Paul Dinu seconded to add these people to the membership.  The motion was passed unanimously.

Jolene requested that we formalize several committees – finance, fundraising, Publicity, Organization, and Legislative.  The chairs of these committees are as follows:

     Finance committee – Diana Boom, chair

     Fundraising committee – Gary Heide, chair

     Publicity committee – currently vacant

     Organizational committee – Rod Bennion, chair

     Legislative committee – Craig Frasier, chair; Nancy, Rita and Carole agreed to

     be members

Jolene said she just received the election results and wants to study them.  She will provide us with a summary.  She will look at gaps and work on how to be more active on local issues.  Thanks to those who worked on the GOTV campaign and for those people who donated money to help finance the GOTV campaign.

John DeFrance moved and Paula Becks seconded to oppose the family initiative measure in March 2003.  Motion approved. 

Our meetings for 2003 are tentatively scheduled as follows:

     1/14/03 -  Marks on the River (Brown’s Landing) unless notified differently

     4/15/03 -  Riverview, Rainier

     7/15/03 – Hong Kong, Vernonia

    10/14/03 – Fultano’s, Clatskanie

     12/13/03 – Warren Country Inn

 A district representative stated that Dorothy McKay was doing well after surgery.  Bill said that Art Laubach is at Avamere and would enjoy company.

Bill said that we need to pay $205 for the website by April 2003.

Support for the Human Dignity gala was discussed.  It was consensus that members could purchase tickets to the gala and write letters to the editor to show opposition to the March ballot measure.

 The meeting was adjourned at 12:05 p.m.
