                        as well as being relayed to all media in county and to David Wu.

            Legislative Measures

                        Craig reminded us of upcoming School Board elections

                        Josette noted the recent passage of the antidiscrimination bill and the                  domestic partnership bill making Oregon one of a handful of states to do so.

            County news-

                        Rita- Timber bill (federal) is in danger due to Bush’s promised veto.

                        Joe- No quick fix in sight and services are in jeopardy.

 

            Movie Night- Julane

                        Decided to continue 1st Wed Movie Night.- May’s offering is                                        “Inconvenient Truth”  7pm Scappoose HS.  –

 

 

Old Business

            State Party – June 2-4 Training in Portland.  Jolene will keep us updated on registration.  Hope to see many of us there.

                       

Adopt a Highway- Anne Cox

We have been given the strip of highway from milepost  19.35 to 21.27 just south of Scappoose near Means Nursery. We must do at least one clean-up before the signs showing our sponsorship and all volunteers working on the project need to view the 30 minute training video.  The video will be shown before the May meeting. and also before the May Movie Night. Jolene has given us an additional three dates: May 5, May 26, or Jun 16. 

 

 

Summer Event Planning

 

Bumper stickers & Buttons;   Joe and Pat --A motion passed

            to authorize a budget of $200 for the purchase of           

                        items for resale at the Democratic Booths.

 

            County Fair – Julane

            Application is in process.  A Fair Committee will have a short time to                             prepare.  Volunteers are needed in the planning.

 

Coming up:

                        Clatskanie Heritage Days—July 4;  Rainier Days is July 12-15.

                         The Vernonia Jamboree is Aug.3-5;  Scappoose Sauerkraut Days

 

New Business

       Proposed resolutions to be published on our website-- Motion passed.

Motion was amended to place a note at the beginning of the proposal that it was only in the discussion stage.  Bill Eagle will place that caveat as appropriate.

 

Next meeting to be held at Colvin’s in Clatskanie.  Training movie for Adopt a Hwy Proj will be shown at 6:30pm and meeting at 7.  Room is available for dinner at 6pm.
